The Most Beautiful Fridge

As I look around my kitchen it would be easy to frown and think how I'd love to have some new appliances. And by "some" I mean "all". Some from this decade would be nice! After all, I have a big family and I love to cook, so that should automatically grant me new appliance privileges, right? (Ladies, don't get excited, that's not really a thing.) And don't forget to make them big. And shiny. With LED lights.

Let's take the fridge for example. Have you seen those new giant refrigerators? They are big and beautiful, clean and organized, shiny and some even boast of serving your daily Keurig coffee right next to the water and ice. Oh, the dream! I mean, an ice maker and Keurig? This excitement comes from the girl who still fills ice trays.

Reality (and the bank account) right now says "no" to the shiny, new, big appliances. But that's ok. Because when I look at my fridge, my common, white, and not completely clean or organized fridge...I am quickly reminded of what really matters...

You see, it's not really about "things" at all...it's about my children. My family. The little moments where little hands draw and color pictures. Where, over time I will watch them grow and learn by watching the pictures on the fridge change. Till one day it's their prom picture...their high school graduation picture...their wedding picture...and pictures of their children.

You know, I really have all I need. All that is important. So, while I'd love a new, bigger, fancier, cleaner fridge...I've decided that this one is really the most beautiful one I'll ever have.

Keep deception and lies far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portion, that I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the LORD?” Or that I not be in want and steal, and profane the name of my God.
